The 1970s will probably best be remembered for rock and disco music, along with hippies, bell-bottomed jeans, platform shoes, larva lamps and the cold war. Iconic musicals from the period such as The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Grease and Saturday Night Fever became cult classics, and audience ratings rocketed for television shows such as The Brady Bunch and Charlie’s Angels, while the entire world wanted to know who shot JR in Dallace.
Now, in a tribute to the era, musical director Mike McCullagh will present Station 70 at GrandWest’s Roxy Revue between 30 July and 18 September, Wednesday through to Saturday.
For the show the stage is transformed into a radio station playing 70s music with assistance from a live, nine-piece band. News, commentary, calls from listeners and even quirky comical ads epitomising the era completes the radio concept.
The talented cast of Capetonians includes well known vocalists Lucy Holgate, Riaan Corneluis and Keenan Arrison who also plays the role of radio DJ. The rhythm section is led by Kyle Petersen on keyboards, Neil Peyton, Warren Lomberg and Lorenzo Bastiaan on guitar, Ricardo Philander on drums and Morgan King on Sax. Backing vocals are provided by Leani Ekermans.
The audience is welcome to join in the singing of tracks such as Joy to the World, Nut Bush City Limits, Kung Fu Fighting, Stayin’ Alive and many more from artists such as Michael Jackson, Queen, Abba, Earth Wind and Fire, The Stylistics, the Four Seasons and many others.
Doors open at 20h00 and the show starts at 20h30. Tickets are available at Computicket at R67 per person.
They made it through the first round and have returned to Cape Town for their Victory Tour at Grand West’s Grand Arena on Sunday 4 July at 15h00 and Monday 5 July at 20h00. You can look forward to a thrilling game once again, with our beloved comedians giving their all for South Africa and performing to unite the nation through laughter.
The line up includes Coach Markos Santanos Bankos, Captain Barry Hilton and the players Trevor “Delicious”, Noah, Nik “Bokkie” Rabinowitz, Loyiso “Laduuuma” Gola, Marc ‘Long Shot’ Lottering, Kagiso ‘Kaka’ Ladiga, John ‘Die Voël’ Vlismas. As you would have noticed, the selection has remained the same with none of our players receiving a red card.
Make sure you have your Bafunny face on and join us for some good fun and laughter. Doors open an hour before each show and an age restriction of 16 and older applies. Tickets are available from Computicket between R120 and R200 with discounts for group bookings of 10 or more.

Jojoflores has come a long way from his humble Montreal roots.
Today, House Music’s “Mixed Tape King” has achieved global reach, and is now a tireless ambassador of soulful dance music to every corner of the world.
In addition to being one of the genre’s most respected DJ’s;
Jojoflores is also CEO of Gotsoul Records and founder of the infamous Therapy soirees – now enjoyed in 7 cities worldwide from Cape Town to San Francisco and Toronto. Along the way, he’s found time to open up a club, own a record shop, and produce numerous records and CD’s.
Jojoflores’ reputation for rocking a dance floor has rewarded him with multiple residencies at famed clubs world-wide, including New York City’s Cielo; Nikki Beach Miami; Deep in Los Angeles; Lotus in Hawaii; along with venues in Melbourne, Dubai, Brazil, Santorini & Athens. He was voted “Best International DJ” 4 years running by NYC’s Undaground Archives.
His dedication and hard work have also garnered him a corporate client list which includes MAC Cosmetics, Apple, Hugo Boss, Vanity Fair, Puma, Details Magazine, Banana Republic, Cadillac, and The Delano Hotel. He has headlined events with Wyclef Jean, Jody Watley, K-OS, Jazzy Jeff and not to mention he’s become D-Squared’s go-to DJ in Canada.
Jojoflores’ last visit to South Africa was nothing less than inspirational, dropping tracks that almost caused me collapse on the dance floor. Rocking a beautiful, intimate crowd with Deep House classics, re-edits and a remix of a Bjork hit, created a list of excited facebook friends, awaiting his return soon after.
Well, its now 2 years later, and its officially confirmed… Jojoflores is in the building! After been invited as a guest speaker, and international DJ for the Southern African Music Conference to be held in Joburg next month, this truly inspirational DJ will perform a mind-blowing 3 hour set on 24 June 2010 at a ‘cosy’ Cape Town’ venue to be disclosed, exclusive to ticket holders.
Peep this video to witness the fitness of Jojoflores, as he rocked Toronto with fellow DJ and world famous producer Dennis Ferrer at The century Room just last week.

As per usual we back its the first saturday of the month and we back to bring contemporary and future house madness to the floor. Featuring what i consider musical house brands to all things musical. This month is somewhat special though we have Craig De Sousa as our musical guest .
He is doing his official cd launch with Soul Revolution at Deluxe and supported by Leighton Moody & Erefaan Pearce.
After the successful Everything double cd release, Craig De Sousa turned his attention to focusing on his dance group the Iridium Project and has enjoyed radio success with chart topping hits like “Lu’s Control” and “Which Way To Go”. The group toured SA extensively and even made it as far as Russia.
All this time he has secretly been plotting his 7th DJ mix. Craig has always wanted to create an annual concept but up until now has not found a record label brave enough to trust his foresight. So with the birth of Autograph a brand new label founded by fellow DJ Coco Loco, the time was finally right to introduce Audio Flux, the 1st release on Autograph.
By definition Audio Flux is the amount of audio that flows through a unit area. So aptly named 2009 is the first year in this series of annuals. Craig’s aim is to capture the greatest moments of each year in a live DJ mix, pioneering the new territory of dance and introducing the latest trends and genres.
Look forward to see y’all there.
We wrote it we played it we are Soul Revolution.
