As one of the most successful American Idols winner, currently on her international All I Ever Wanted Tour, Kelly Clarkson will be gracing South Africa with a performance at GrandWest’s Grand Arena on 17 March 2010.

Our local Pop Idol winner Jason Hartman will be performing as the opening act. Since 2009, Hartman has had a whirlwind of appearances and shows in every town and province in South Africa and Namibia.

All I Ever Wanted is the fourth studio album by American pop rock singer Kelly Clarkson which was released on 6 March 2009 in Australia and Germany. It was her second album to debut at number one on the Billboard Hot 200, making it Clarkson’s second non-consecutive number-one album.

Tracks such as “Since You’ve Been Gone”, “I Do Not Hook Up“, “I Want You“, “Already Gone” and  “Whyyawannabringmedown” are just a few of the hit songs that one can look forward to hearing.

She describes her album as soulful, ’70s rock vibe, with some more club/dance tracks. “If I Can’t Have You is like the Killers-meets-the Eurythmics,’’ says Clarkson. For more of a softer, emotional side there are tracks such as “If No One Will Listen“.

Born as Kelly Brianne Clarkson, she shot to fame on 4 September 2002, becoming the winner of the hit television series American Idols. She performed the balladA Moment Like This” which earned her 58% of the vote and has been featured on her debut album, Thankful.

Since 2002, she has sold over twenty million records around the world; landed eight singles in the Top Ten, won Grammys, MTV Video Music Awards, American Music Awards, and nominated for a CMA Award.

All I Ever Wanted debuted on the Billboard 200 at number one with sales of 255,000 copies. This marks the second time Clarkson topped this particular chart after her debut set Thankful, which began with 297,000 in 2003.

  • Clarkson has released four albums to date: her double-platinum debut album Thankful (2003), her multi-platinum second album Breakaway (2004) – won two Grammy Awards, My December (2007), and her latest album All I Ever Wanted (2009). Her first four albums have sold over 10.4 million copies in the United States.
  • Clarkson held the distinction of having the highest-selling American Idol album in the United States until November 2009, when Carrie Underwood claimed that title by a narrow margin of 100,000 albums. Clarkson, however, remains the highest-selling American Idol alum overall, with around 23 million albums sold worldwide.
  • Eleven of Clarkson’s singles became Top Twenty hits on the Billboard Hot 100. Her single, “My Life Would Suck Without You“, advanced from number 97 to number one on the Hot 100 in its first week of release, breaking the record for the largest leap to the top position in chart history
