The name M’hudi is derived from the Setswana word, “Mohudi” meaning “Harvester”.
It is also the name given to a heroine of a great African story. M’hudi fled her war-ravaged village in search of a new beginning. The story is one of courage, determination against seemingly impossible odds and the relentless pursuit of one’s dreams and aspirations. The Rangaka Family are the founders of the M’hudi Brand and the main characters in the M’hudi Wines adventure.
Having left our successful professional careers we settled down to learning the new and specialized skills required to develop a world-class wine tourism business and to establish the now successful M’hudi Brand.
The M’hudi Wines project is a very personal journey for our family. The vineyard lies in a valley with deep table Mountain sandstone soils over clay. The valley floor is very hot in summer but is regularly cooled by morning mists and vigorous doses of the Cape Doctor (renowned Cape Town South-Easterly wind) in the afternoons. We use the grapes from our vineyard to make the wines, but to ensure quality we also source grapes from areas best known for the cultivars.

Check out the new video for Camagu, the first single from Driemanskap’s debut album, Igqabhukil’ Inyongo. Driemanskap are the future of SA hip hop. They epitomise the best traditions of lyricism, meaningful content and the desire to speak about their own culture with their own voices. Fittingly, Camagu is about the importance of respecting and celebrating your culture and its traditions, even if you are a modern urban hip hop head.
The video was shot entirely on location in Khayelitsha, Cape Town byGreenhaus Production.
